Addresses #3689

Only flatten nested blockquotes rather than flattening all child nodes which might be relevant such as nested links.

Thanks for this PR, but can I close it? I'll merge your fix directly into #4174
The markdown package has undergone a major rework and now supports round-trip serialization and custom mdx nodes.
