Looks like this issue was introduced in the scattergl rewrite (i.e. v1.32.0 doesn't throw any errors)

Confirmed. But it doesn't seem like this actually blocks any functionality, just litters the console with errors, is that right?

Yea, I just suspect that it might be related to plotly/plotly.R#1214, which is a much bigger problem.

Interesting, this same codepen throws a different error in RStudio on Windows (from plotly/plotly.R#1214 (comment) )

Huh, it looks like my comment #2457 (comment) is wrong, markers don't render on Safari, and the full list of errors suggests this may be a duplicate of #2543
