In some situations there might be two (or more) classes of trials within a single timeline. For example, in the IAT the trials alternate between words and pictures in some versions.

The goal here is to add a new sample method for timeline variables that allows for controlled selection from subsets of variables on each trial.

One way to implement would be some kind of filter operation that could be applied to the variable values themselves.
