I am not sure if there is much interest in this but though it was worth doing.
I have converted the app so far and am working on the library conversion, but that is a bit more work. This should be fairly solid as it's pretty much a direct conversion, with a minor improvement or two for readability, ease of development and also to improve the usage of deprecated methods.
Let me know if there is anything we want changed and any potential pitfalls to take into account.
