 The main goal of the Open Research Data (ORD) project Proto4DigEd funded by swissuniversities for a duration of 18 months (07.2023−12.2024) is to test and further develop prototypical workflows for digital scientific editions (DSE). As a result, we are developing a model edition and writing an extensive handbook that aims to help different use cases and communities in the conception phase of their projects.

 Hans Christian Andersen died 150 years ago, but his legacy is thriving. The research center in Andersen´s native town Odense aids readers and researchers alike who want to explore this rich oeuvre. To this aim, we have over the course of just four years launched three digital editions. All three have been produced with TEI Publisher.

 The TEI Processing Model (PM) is a TEI facility that can be used to give a declarative description of the expected behaviour associated with TEI XML elements. As such it can become an important ingredient for a fully declarative specification of TEI output, even though a declarative output specification would need much more than the PM (such as page layout specifications, search specifications, specification of interaction). However, there are a number of limitations that one runs into when trying to define output using the TEI PM. For some of these, TEI publisher has already implemented extensions to the model.

 TEI Publisher Version 10 represents a radical redesign by deconstructing TEI Publisher into an ensemble of combinable, interoperable profiles, each of which targets a particular aspect of a digital edition. Profiles can be rearranged and adjusted via configuration files (in the future: via form-based interface).

 Digital collections of historical sources often feature texts that are comprised in one collection for a reason. Exploring this reason means investigating commonalities and differences between the texts contained in the collection. In one example - the project [The School of Salamanca](https://salamanca.school/) of the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz - the relation between the texts is precisely one of the things the exploration of which the project intends to facilitate. For would understanding this relation not help us understand what the "school" might have been? In what ways?
