Improvements to the NREL OpenPATH Study Webpages #766
Comments
There's also Durham and Wyoming |
Here's a mockup to reflect the above changes for the Open-Study page @shankari please take a quick look at this, give me your thoughts, and what are the next steps we need to get this implemented? |
One high level comment was that they can't add the "Google Play" and "App store" buttons since they are not created by NREL. |
what about the feedback around putting research questions more upfront (from Emily Kotz, the NREL campus mobility person) |
Could we put that below the screenshots, for example? |
for this, we can't write any code - we have to send the screenshots to NREL comms and they will make the changes |
Is there a requirement that we have to use hyperlinks? Because while the hyperlinks are good, users may miss it, causing them to search "openpath" on the play store and accidentally downloading the wrong app, which will get them stuck. I like the idea of having some sort of picture that can be clicked and sent to the correct App Store/Play Store page
This sounds like a great idea! Where are the research questions? Are they in an email?
Sounds good, I can make the updates to the webpage tomorrow, we discuss the new changes, and then when we are both ready I can send the screenshots to NREL comms |
My understanding from Comms is that we can't include the buttons because we don't have the copyright for them, so images should be fine. But that should be part of the discussion with them.
They are at the bottom of the NREL commute page (and really, any of the study-specific pages. |

This looks pretty good! One caveat is that I would change "It is your duty as a participant" because it sounds too strict and off putting. My experience with US communications is that you have to be relentlessly positive. Also, once we do get the improved label assist, and "count every trip" implemented, people won't need to label every day anymore anyway. |
I removed the "It is your duty as a participant", and I also changed it to have descriptions of each text I wrote, and an example under each new section. I also included that labeling is only strongly encouraged since "count every trip" will take care of most of the labeling. I am going to send this to Comms, and CC you @shankari |
@sebastianbarry what was "the below error"? |
Have submitted this design to NREL Comms, but they don't like the two-column format because it is inconsistent with web design standards. Moving this to a new "waiting for external input" category. |
I address these changes following the update to get the webpages out of the CMS, in this new issue: #811 This issue is good to close |
Currently, the NREL OpenPATH Study webpages are up and working, but some users are having a hard time navigating these pages. We need to determine what about them needs to be changed to be more clear, and create a mockup to send to NREL so they can update the page
