We need a logo! Folks at the TOC will complete a number of workflow steps once we have our logo created and in place.

• Choose a logo
• Update readme, landscape graphic, and other places with official logo
• Write up "why owls"

Just throwing this out. A lot of time and effort made for observability is done by great minds that are (often) close to observability. Improving things for the greater good but it's often directly or indirectly also for ourselves, our companies, etc. It makes sense our skills & expertise is at observability :)
I'm aware so many time if done in peoples own time. However, we also do have some companies supporting us.

So, this might be out of the box: what if we pay for a logo, to someone who has the same love for logos/designs? (we don't have an TAG Artists :D ) I have a rich life, but I'm not money-wise rich. So I'm happy donate a portion of the costs to let an artist work on this (:

I understand this might be a bit out of the blue, but I really would love this.

Overall, I prefer the basic style of

Notes/feedback:

• Could we see the same with Lato or Lato bold as font?
• Could the artists take https://www.google.com/search?q=control+theory&source=lnms&tbm=isch as inspiration and create some gentle diagram encompassing eye and potentially some letters?
• Could the artists attach letters/numbers to easily identify images? E.g. the above is round one, third image so it could be called 1C

Those a re nice logos and I think we can improve in one aspect at least: o11y is not for the sake of observing but for actionable insights. In this sense I'd like to propose to include a variation of the OODA loop, something like:

We're trying to align all the TAGs, but if you want to go with the suggestion for June 22nd from @RichiH that's fine too. I will let @RichiH weigh in here for next steps.

I see how convenient animals are for logos but almost all those v2 logos look very familiar to me, from other brands. It's like I have already seen them all.

Out of this set, 2 & 8 seem OK but none of them wow me. The animals look somewhat generic and "familiar" as @roidelapluie pointed out; is there a list of already-accepted TAG logos to get an indication of overall style?

My own current preference lies with #37 (comment)

Had a chance to look at the original PDF @amye shared! Of all the rendered images, #11 gets my vote; #13 may be a second choice. The owl seems very appropriate given we're a community of observers :D
