TAG Observability Logo #37
Comments
Just throwing this out. A lot of time and effort made for observability is done by great minds that are (often) close to observability. Improving things for the greater good but it's often directly or indirectly also for ourselves, our companies, etc. It makes sense our skills & expertise is at observability :) So, this might be out of the box: what if we pay for a logo, to someone who has the same love for logos/designs? (we don't have an TAG Artists :D ) I have a rich life, but I'm not money-wise rich. So I'm happy donate a portion of the costs to let an artist work on this (: I understand this might be a bit out of the blue, but I really would love this. |
Actually, I have our design team in progress for this on the CNCF side. Hold this one open for voting. |

Overall, I prefer the basic style of Notes/feedback:
|
Let's open a period (2 weeks) for submissions from community, and we can have a vote in the following tag meeting. |
+1 to what Richi says, this logo as starting point looks the best to me. Let's vote on a next meeting yes! |
Round two, more focused around animals (to match with all the other TAGs :D ) |
Thanks. I take it our input and feedback here is neither necessary nor taken into consideration, right @amye? |
I see how convenient animals are for logos but almost all those v2 logos look very familiar to me, from other brands. It's like I have already seen them all. |
Out of this set, 2 & 8 seem OK but none of them wow me. The animals look somewhat generic and "familiar" as @roidelapluie pointed out; is there a list of already-accepted TAG logos to get an indication of overall style? My own current preference lies with #37 (comment) |
@amye Can you relay #37 (comment) to the artists? Some iterations on 2 & 8 seem needed; emphasizing an eye in the style of #37 (comment) might help make them less generic. |
@amye reminder-poke (for AFTER pto!) |
Renderings of all the animals are beautiful. Thanks @amye .. I personally loved the owl, but for observability, let the cat be out of the box - something like this https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a34413613/proving-schrodingers-cat-exists-in-real-life/ |
I'd vote for 11, and maybe 14 |
14 if these are the final choices. I'd rather we start afresh, TBH none of them is a really good representation of what we do and who we are. |

@halcyondude - is this the same logo as the Owl sheet I provided? I can add that information here if so. |
Thanks @halcyondude We now have a logo! |
Phenomenal work team!

Moving forward w/ this, waiting on CNCF creative team.
Looks smashing! Would it be a completely outrageous request to ask you to
align the text color with the owl hue-wise? 😅

We need a logo! Folks at the TOC will complete a number of workflow steps once we have our logo created and in place.
