How to Set Up Your Electronic Lab Notebook
The SGC Labarchives works on the UK Labarchives server. So:
-
If you have never used Labarchives then sign up for a free account using this link. This should take you right in to the SGC's Open Chemistry Network notebook.
-
If you already have a UK Labarchives account, then you can either get yourself invited to the SGC notebook by a notebook owner or administrator (if you know one, otherwise send a request to chemistry@thesgc.org) OR you can sign up for an additional Labarchives UK account (using an email address that is different to the one you used for your regular Labarchives UK account) using this link to do so.
-
If you have a Labarchives account via another institution, or you have a non-UK Labarchives account, then you can either contact an existing SGC notebook admin/owner (or email chemistry@thesgc.org) and ask to be invited to an SGC notebook or you can sign up for a new UK account using this link. (You should ensure that your participation in OCN follows your institutions' policies regarding this type of open research collaboration.)
You'll know this has worked since then your Labarchives list of notebooks will include an SGC notebook, and you will see (when you go there) the SGC logo in the top left.
Labarchives is intuitive, but if you need some tutorials on how to add your work, there is an excellent knowledgebase, including a quick start guide online and as a PDF, and there's a YouTube Channel. There is also a responsive customer support email address (support@labarchives.com) and you can also reach out to the generic email address for Open Chemistry Networks at chemistry@thesgc.org.
