IODA file naming convention

flampouris edited this page Oct 10, 2019 · 4 revisions
  • General instructions

Use the following convention for naming the IODA observations.

YYYYMMDDHH/ioda.OBSERVATION.INSTRUMENT_LEVEL.SOURCE.DA_WINDOWh.nc

Where:

  • YYYYMMDDHH : PDY
  • OBSERVATION : Kind of observation
  • INSTRUMENT : Instrument or satellite used for the retrieval
  • LEVEL : The level of the product, for satellite observations
  • SOURCE : Observation provider
  • DA_WINDOW : The total length of the temporal window, centered at PDY

Important Note: In case that observations from several sensors are concatenated, use "cat" for the "INSTRUMENT". The same for multiple providers.

See below for examples.

  • SST from a specific for L3 windsat from ghrsst for 10/01/2011 at 12:00z and a 24 hour DA window:
    2011100112/ioda.sst.windsat_l3u.ghrsst.24h.nc

  • SST level 2, from several satellites and providers for 10/01/2011 at 12:00z and a 24 hour DA window:
    2011100112/ioda.sst.cat_l2.cat.24h.nc
