Bug in text copy #713
Comments
Please read http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and provide precise and accurate reproduction steps. "Paste non-ascii text" is vague - what text, from where exactly, etc. is missing. The version numbers you provide are inaccurate - no such thing as Poedit "3.0.6" exists. You don't say what source you got Poedit from etc. |
You are right, I explained very bad. I was using version (2.4.2), and I found this problem, and I thought maybe in newer versions this problem has been fixed, so the new version (3.0-6) for Ubuntu 21.10, I installed it manually on my operating system. To reproduce the problem:
msgid "ا، ب، ث، …"
Additional information I ask other people in the Persian Ubuntu Association to investigate this problem and I will put the result here. Maybe this is just my problem. |
Then why do you think it is a Poedit issue, and not a Firefox one?
Please be more specific than "some" and "others". |
Maybe Firefox has a problem, I should probably raise the same problem there. Because I was waiting for the copied text to be placed incomprehensibly. I can not say for sure that all the programs insert the wrong text, because I did not try all the programs. I raised these issues at the Ubuntu forum of Iran and I am waiting for them to respond. I will write the result here. I also pasted the text I copied from poedit into the Opera browser, and the text became as incomprehensible as I expected. |
This may also be a problem from wayland, as it does not exist on the X11. |
Can you please check |
Hi. snap list: |
Please don't close issues without explanation. It's rude after you asked us to spend time on it, and is counterproductive. |
Sorry, I thought you would not like to work on this problem after this time. |
Hi, thanks for creating this great app.
I am using version 2.4.2 and 3.0.6 of the poedit program on Ubuntu 21.04.
This problem occurs when I am on the wayland window system. This problem does not exist when I am on x.org.
Problem: When I copy a text "translation" or "source text" from poedit, I can not copy it in Firefox browser.
And in some other programs, such as the following, the text was inserted incomprehensibly.
I tried VisualCode, and it still had problems.
The same problem continued with an online translator program (Translatium-18.1.1)
this problem does not occur in other applications such as gedit or gnome-terminal.
To recreate it, copy and paste a non-ascii text such as into poedit, and then try copying it again from poedit and pasting it into Firefox or other programs.

If you try the English text, the result will be different. This means that it is not only pasted in Firefox and may be pasted correctly in other programs.
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
