It's pretty common to use a more formal name for publications but prefer an informal name for social interactions. Currently, to get my avatar on my poster, I have to use the formal name that's on the poster, but I would expect a display name to be someone's "preferred name" when meeting them.
I don't know if the posters are tagged with presenter emails, so might not be possible this conference.
