We should come up with a bonus session style event to take place during NRB week.

Project Ideas:

  • YACS API project
  • Observatory Bugs
  • YACS Alexa integration

Competition Idea:

  • Everyone works on the same "idea", but people compete for fun to make the best project. Points would be awarded based on some criteria as well as creativity.

Unfortunately, the deadline for declaring an NRB event was before we came up with this, but we should plan an NRB event for next year for certain. We should try out some new bonus sessions and be sure to document what we do and review those at the end of the semester. Using this, we can plan a full 2-day NRB event over the course of next semester.

Just an update: @aeksco and I applied during finals week, we should be receiving more info in June. Unfortunately we were unable to get a 2-day event, but we should be getting a 2-hour time slot. We were thinking of having it be an informal "RCOS Meet and Greet". Tentative description:

Did you know our campus shuttle tracker is entirely built by RPI students? This is just
one of the awesome projects we are working on at the Rensselaer Center for Open Source!
Come meet some of our current student developers, designers, and entrepreneurs and learn
about what we work on and how you can get involved. All majors are welcome, regardless
of prior technical background.
