As an end-user, in case of connection problems, do an exponential back-off on retrying #9

In the initial setup, we continuously try to set up the connection. Rather than keeping on doing this, exponentially back off prior to trying again.

When starting on this, check first whether we should split this up per type connection, e.g. modbus vs mqtt.
