Test_class only runs the first test in certain test classes.

I've got everything set up and it works fine, except in certian test classes, the test_class method only runs 1 test.
the test_nearest_method call can run each test individually.

This is in a spring boot project, using junit.

One update - and I don't know if this is expected, or if there's a setting that can change the behavior, but:
I have my tests set to run in parallel by default. I noticed that all the test classes where I have set '@execution(ExecutionMode.SAME_THREAD)', it is able to run all tests in the class.
And in the test classes where tests run in parallel, it can only run 1 at a time.
