- universal: given an input process, MG produces the source code to calculate the corresponding cross-section

- calculates processes at LO QCD, NLO QCD correcions may be included
- Python 2.6 or 2.7
- Fortran compiler supporting quadruple precision (needed for NLO)
- gfortran v4.6+ OK
- optional:
- gnuplot - to draw distributions created my MG
- FastJet (FJcore is included in the tarball) - to cluster hadronic jets
- LHAPDF - to use your favourite parton distribution functions - a default internal set exists
- Herwig++ / Pythia8 - to add the non-perturbative part of the calculation
