Need more info to nail this down to a specific upstream component. Is this related to chef/chef#2703 (and fixed in master of ChefSpec, possibly)?

ChefSpec 4.2.0 is still really slow... but only by 4x instead of the previous >10x

What version of ChefDK did you have before this problem appeared? Has ChefSpec been upgraded since then? Does the problem go away if you downgrade ChefSpec with a newer ChefDK?

The solution here is to use the new cached spec runners.
