Dummy asking for a tutorial for certain type of beginners. Was lead to here by following the links :-)
Step-by-step reproduction instructions (optional)
Screenshots or screen recording (optional)
Other information (optional)
The predicament I'm in is that my employer wants old html (mine is version 1 only) homepages converted to WP. They will do the hosting and manage the themes plug-ins etc. I need instructions on how to convert the HTML version 1 content (lists, hyperlinks, my interlinked system of html-files, documents, images etc) into WP. All the manuals start with finding a host, installing WP and such that is all Greek to me. I don't know what CSS and PHP mean. I expect to be editing the source with a text editor, and then FTP it to the server.
I think I'm not the only person needing that kind of a tutorial for dummies.

What should happen next to apply the feedback?:
@Jyrki63 thank you for your feedback. Converting HTML version 1 pages to WordPress isn’t as straightforward as simply editing files in a text editor and uploading them via FTP. WordPress is a content management system (CMS) that dynamically generates pages using PHP and a database, which is quite different from static HTML.
To migrate your old HTML content into WordPress, you’ll need to:
Copy your content (text, images, and links) from your old pages into WordPress pages or posts.
Recreate the structure by using WordPress menus, categories, or custom post types if necessary.
Upload your images and documents into the WordPress media library.
Adjust formatting using the WordPress editor, which is different from raw HTML.
Redirect old URLs if necessary, so users and search engines can find the new versions.
The minimum knowledge needed would be:
Basic understanding of how WordPress works (how to create pages, posts, and menus).
Familiarity with the WordPress editor.
Understanding how to upload media and manage links.
Since your employer will handle hosting, themes, and plugins, you don’t need to worry about PHP or CSS right away. However, depending on how your HTML pages are structured, you may need to work with someone who can help customize things further if needed.
If you’re completely new to WordPress, I’d recommend going through the Beginner WordPress User course that even though it also includes a lesson describing what are domains and hosting, these concepts are described in an easy-to-understand way and the course focuses above all on content management.
@WordPress/learn-editors team, the course mentioned above is already designed so that someone with no knowledge of WordPress can learn the basics about WordPress.
