mEGA-VieW written by SieGeL (c) 1993-95 (tRSi/X-iNNOVATiON)
Programhistory
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
V0.01 (12-??-93) - MST-VieW is born ...
V1.0ß (01-??-94) - First public release (forgotten to delete the Betasign from
the Version-String, so V1.0ß is the REAL public Version!)
+Handles LHA/DMS/SHR/ZIP/ARJ/EXE-Archives (TESTING/VIEWING)
+Supports FileID.DIZ by .DMS & .EXE
+Supports Wildcards at every position (No need to enter
three real chars b4 using the star)
+Supports 'realtime' Archive-Testing via PIPE: (THX BYTI!)
+Integrated SysopView (set via Tooltypes)
+Checks for Restricted Files in ACP
+Supports extracting files for viewing from LHA/ZIP/SHRINK
+Checks for accesslevel to view or test only files (set
via ToolType)
+Supports NonStop-Viewing for BBS-Adverts & ANSI-anims
V1.1ß (03-07-94) - First BETA-Release for our ß-Testers.
*SUGGESTION FROM ? : (Sorry..forgotten the Name..:)
Added new ToolType for the default Extractpath used by
LHA & UnZIP so you don't have to buy 50MB RAM to use the
extract-options...:))
*BUGREPORT FROM BYTEANDI/MST:
MST-VieW V1.0ß couldn't check for inserted Disks...just
enter V df0: and if DF0: has no disk in drive an
AmigaDos-Errorrequester pops up and the node stands until
the SYSOP has answered the requester
This has been FIXED with a Checkroutine written by SPY/MsT
(BIG THX!!!)
+Now Files checked via FileID.Library by BloodRock/SDC
instead of only checking the filename-extension, faster
and much much safer..(rename a textfile into .lha and try
to view it with V1.0ß...:) )
+Added AmigaGuide-Viewer (Guide2Doc V1.1 - rewritten by
myself to work correctly)
+Internal SAS-Functions replaced by smaller (and faster)
Dos.Library-Calls
+SHRINK-Packeroption removed coz FileID.library doesn't
recognize SHRINK in V5, BloodRock will add it in the next
update of the Library and then you will get back this
Option (if needed!!!)
+In V1.0ß, you have to restart the door if you want to view
another file...now fixed..if an error occures and it's not
a very hard error, you were kicked back to the Prompt to
enter the next file.
V1.2ß (03-23-94) - BETA-Release for our Betatesters
*BUGREPORT FROM BYTEANDI/MST & DR.DRE/TRSI:
MST-VieW DON'T handle Restricted Files correctly..it's
possible to view 'USER.DATA' (!) without any problems..
Now FIXED! MST-VieW now first checks the Restricted Files
which are set in ACP, then it checks the FileComments for
the keyword "RESTRICTED"...if found, MST-VieW stops and
tell the user that he has tried to view a Restricted File.
If ACP couldn't found, the viewing of files is disabled and
the user could only test archives...!
*SUGGESTION FROM SCORPIO/SR:
It could happen that MST-VieW don't find ACP.INFO, in this
case it aborts and won't work. To avoid such problems, I
added a ToolType (ACP_PATH) were you could enter the path
to ACP if MST-VieW don't find it without the ToolType.
*BUGREPORT FROM ARGON/MST & SCORPIO/SR:
Guide2Doc V1.1 crashes on their machines (80000003). Coz
of very badly Original-Code, we decided to write our own
Converter called GuideToDoc V1.0 written by ByteAndi/MST.
See MST-VieW.guide for more information about thiz cewl
tool.
+Changed the checkroutine for PIPE:, coz if not mounted,a
requester appears and asks to put device PIPE: in any
drive. Now FIXED!
+If MST-View runs on a Multinodeboard and two or more
user view files, it could happen that all users view the
same file coz MST-View don't change the filename for every
Node...now FIXED ! Every Filename you are viewing from an
archive gets now an extension with your nodenumber, so no
probs should occure...
+Found a Memory-Eater which will costs you every time some
Bytes of PublicMem...FIXED !
+Many Codeimprovements made MST-VieW V1.2ß a little bit
faster and much safer, coz I've added Errormessages in ALL
Routines and in the case of an error ALL memory and other
allocated Staff will be deallocated now.
+During an update of UnZIP I rewrite some routines. No need
to change the directory and 'unzips' into this drawer any-
more, coz UnZIP V5.1 now allows to enter a extractpath
like LHA do. I highly recommend that you only useUnZIP V5.1
(found in this archive) or higher. If you use an earlier
version MST-VieW couldn't start UnZip correctly. (In the
latest Version some parameters have been changed.!).
+Changed the waitingprompt. Now the FileName you are viewing
will be shown. The optionprompt is now similar to the /X
Messageprompt. Enter '?' to get a short help during viewing.
+To select a file from an LHA/ZIP-archive you could now use
the CRSR-Keys. For Users, which has the ANSI-Flag off in /X,
the File currently selected will be marked with an arrow
(-> or <-) ..but which user view in non-Ansi ? ...:)
IMPORTANT:Make sure that your Numlines are correct...wrong
amounts result in wrong displays. I have tested it out with
displaymodi from 20 upto 60 Lines in VGA ...it works...
V1.3ß (04-12-94) - BETA-Release for our Betatesters
*Coz of changing the Group the viewer has to be renamed to
TRSi-VieW. All following Tools will be released under the
TRSI - Label.
*SUGGESTION FROM ARGON/MST:
Now TRSi-VieW shows all unknown or not supported Files in
Hexadecimal-Output like the DirectoryOpus-Function HEXREAD.
Nonprintable Characters (aSCii-Value <32 or >127 ) where
shown as dots.
*SUGGESTION FROM BYTEANDI/TRSI:
Now you could Download *ONE* file from an LHA/ZIP archive.
The needed AccessLevel for this option is defined in a
ToolType called 'DL_LEVEL'. All users with an accesslevel
equal to the one you defined in this Tooltype could select
one file from LHA/ZIP archives and download it directly
from the archive. Of course the user could only DL if he
has uploaded the same bytesize like the selected File. If
he hasn't uploaded enough or he has exceeded his Dailybytes,
TRSi-VieW stops and prints out an errormessage. After down-
loading TRSi-VieW writes the new DL-Stats to /X.
The Downloadoption works with ZIP & LHA-archives.
+Changed the LHA-Testroutine a little bit...LHA V1.50r has
an Option called -D<x>, where x stands for an number ranging
from 0-3. With this option you could change the Output from
LHA (Alternate Display). I've included a randomroutine to
let LHA use random outputs when testing archives.
+Small bug in the CRSR-Routine...if an archive contains
only one file, TRSi-VieW writes twice the filename if you
press CRSR-Down...now fixed. If TRSi-VieW founds only one
Filename inside the archive, you were asked to view this
file (no need for CRSR-Keys if only one file present!)
+Fixed some small and hidden Bugs...hope to get no more
bugs...but nobody is perfect...
V1.4ß (04-16-94) - BETA-Release for our Betatesters
+Fixed the checking for user.data. If user.data is not marked
as restricted you could view it anymore !!! Now FIXED !
+Fixed a little bug in the LHA/ZIP-Routine. I have forgotten
to sort out filenames beginning with '-' .
V1.5ß (05-15-94) - Next BETA-Version...but this time only for Delta-X/Neon in
Fact that my only BetaSite get busted a few days before...
So It's impossible to give the newest Beta-Versions to our
testers...Fuck da Police is the only thing I could say bout
Busts...pffft!
+Fixed a bug in the CRSR-Keysroutine, which will hang up once
U have leave them with the ESC-Key and entering it again.
Now Fixed...
V1.6ß (05-31-94) - BETA-Version (Tester: Delta-X , BBS: House of Brain)
+Rewritten the CRSR-Keyroutine, now the Contents of the
desired archive will be sorted alphabetically before
displaying it.
+Changed the Programname from 'tRSi-VieW' to 'MeGa-VieW'...
I think this describes the Viewer a bit better ...:)
+Now MeGa-VieW disable the Amiga-Dos Errorrequesters, so it
is impossible to hang up the node with Error-Requesters.
*SUGGESTION FROM DELTA-X/NEON:
If a user selects a Filename with a '$'-Sign inside the name,
MeGa-VieW always shows the Version-String & Registration
instead of showing the Contents of the selected File...now
fixed ! Only if U enter '$' U will see the Version.
+During an update of the FileID.Library I added the SHRINK-
support again...now you could view/test SHRINK-Archives.
New Tooltype : SHRINK_PATH=<path>.
+Added the User-Break (CTRL-C) while testing an archive via
the PIPE: ...don't wonder if MeGa-VieW shows the '**Break'
but don't return immediatly to the FilePrompt...that's because
I start all Packers in Background and if you break the
testing the Packers must finish their outputs before MeGa-VieW
give you back the fileprompt...
V1.7ß (06-11-94) - Beta-Version
+Removed the showing of Restricted Files 'coz nobody needs
it...
+Fixed a little bug in the Downloading-Routine: Users with
a Disable couldn't dl'ing a file from an archive if their
BytesAvail is lower then the selected Filesize...now if a
User has a Disabled Ratio all checkings were skipped and
he could dl'ing the file in any case....
V2.00 (06-14-94) - PUBLIC RELEASE !
+Removed the Registration-Routine...
+Changed the Version to V2.00 for Public Release.
V2.01 (09-20-94) - Internal Update
+Changed the OpenLibrary - Call for the FileID-Lib...now
you don't need the same FileID-Library I use for compiling
Mega-View, 'coz the minimum Version U need for FileIdenti-
fication is V2 or higher...:) was a stupid bug from me..
+During an error in ByteAndi's GuideToDoc I have decided to
use another program for the converting from Guide to ANSI.
Now I use a program called 'GuideToDocProf' written by
FoX/RmD, which is (at this time!) the fastest and best
converter Program I know...To let Mega-View use this very
cewl program I've changed the Call from Mega-view. Now all
converter-programs should accept the following Syntax:
GUIDETODOCPROF <GUIDE> <ANSI-FILE>
Coz this is the Format I use to run external converters.
More about this in the Doc-File.
V2.02 (10-13-94) - Internal Update
+During the Fake-Release of V2.01ß I have to protect my
Tools against such lamers. From now on all Tools where
registered to my Beta-Testers, so i have an overview of
my Beta-Tools. Sorry for that.
+Changed the '$' - Command. Now Mega-View shows the FileID-
Library Version you've installed on your System, not the
Version I've compiled MeGa-VieW with...
V2.03 (02-04-95) - bETA uPDATE fOR rEGISTERED uSERS !
*BUGREPORT FROM SPY/TRSI & BYTEANDI/TRSI
Many Enforcer-Hits reported ! All this fuckin' hits were
fixed...
+ToolTypes were now checked if they are present or not! In
previous versions missing tooltypes let the enforcer
working..:( Now fixed, too!
+Made many Code-Improvements...how lame could I code ..:(
+Changed the Directory-Scan Routine...faster than light !
+Rewritten all Packerroutines...now more faster !
V2.04 (02-16-95) - Internal Update
+Changed the Text-Show-Routine...now colored ANSI's would
be displayed correctly, without destroying the hole pic !
+Added another Protection.It checks out if the external
programs, which you defined in the Tooltypes, exists, coz
I've found out that if they don't exist and you try to
test something, mEGA-vIEW will crash and the node hangs!
+Forgot to free Memory in ALL previous versions...lame..
Now fixed, the system gets back his memory...sorry...
+Changed the LHA-Routines a little bit..
(02-24-95) +Added Tooltype-View-Support for PROJECT-,TOOL- & DRAWER-
icons, the other icon-types have no Tooltypes and will be
displayed in Hex-Dump...hope this function helps to
become more informations about some programs...
(02-25-95) +Added support for the ZOO-Packer...now testing and viewing
of zoo-archives is possible...
(02-26-95) +Added support for ZOOM & WARP archives, both archivers
checkers are Disk-Packers and therefor only the Checking
iss possible...in fact of this I support only the WARPCK
and the ZOOMCHK-Programs...
+Changed the displaying of ARJ-archives...now it's possible
to use either the UnArj V2.1 or the old V1.15...
(02-27-95) +Added the support for the new LZX-Packer, but currently
only testing & viewing of the archive is possible, coz LZX
isn't able to handle recursive archiving/extracting...if
this nasty bug will be fixed in the future, i will emplant
the same extract-routines like LHA/ZIP...
+Enhanced the Cursor-Keys, now users, who don't use VT-
emulation in their terminals, could handle the CRSR-Keys
with the 8 (for up) & 2 (for down) Keys..
V2.05 (03-01-95) - BETA & PUBLIC RELEASE
+Changed the HEX-Dump function to maximum speed available
on your System...:)
V2.06 (04-07-95) - Internal Beta-Update for pUNISHMENT iNC.
+Replaced the malloc()/free() functions with Exec-Memory
routines to increase speed, also replaced many ANSI-C
routines with ASM-Routines, of coz to gain Speed :)
+Fixed an Enforcer-Hit when viewing an icon containing
no Tooltypes...
+Rewritten the Identification of LZX-Archives, coz FileID-
library V6.11 now identifies LZX-archives, and therefor
no Extension-Checking is needed anymore...
*SUGGESTION FROM BUD WEISSER:
Added new Tooltype 'ALLOW_ARCHIVES=<YES|NO>', if set to
NO, mEGA-vIEW won't allow it to view any archive-type,
only TXT & Guide-Files are allowed to view then!
V2.07 (04-20-95) - Internal Update
+Changed the Waiting-Prompt, now the Keycombination 'NS'
stands for NONSTOP-SCROLLING, not anymore the 'S'-Command.
if you want to stop viewing, simply enter 'N' + Enter and
mEGA-vIEW asks you 4 the next file.
V2.08 (05-07-95) - Internal Update
+Now the last few ANSI-C routines are replaced with ADOS-
commands, so the code-size decreases again a little bit.
+Changed the internal Txt-Displayroutine...now all anims
were displayed correct (aaah..:)...but this changing has
one fault : YOU MUST HAVE INSTALLED AMIEX V3.18 OR HIGHER,
OTHERWISE THIS WON'T WORK!!!! SO PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU
HAVE THE RIGHT VERSION-NUMBER, I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPEN IF
YOU START MEGA-VIEW ON EARLIER VERSIONS OF AMIEX!!!
But of course the FAME-BBS supports this method of
displaying TXT-Files, so why not changing to it ? :)))
(05-13-95) - Found a very nasty bug in Amiex when displaying Animations
with ANSI - Mode set to off...always appears a Guru Med.
What a lameness, you have to truncate the readed buffer to
1023 (what a number!) bytes, otherwise the buffer will be
overflown and your machine resets! Now mEGA-vIEW checks out
the ANSI-Flag and if set to off, only displays 1000 Bytes
at one time to avoid such fuckin shit!
(05-18-95) - Fixed the CutAnsi() Routine to display textfiles correct.
(06-18-95) - After two weeks of coding, the new CRSR-Support routines
are ready. Now it's possible to flag more than only one
file when using ZIP or LHA archives. The contents of the
archive were displayed like the output of the List-Comm.
If the Archivecontents doesn't fit at one time on your
screen, the contents were splitted in more screens. Now
it's possible to jump between the pages with CRSR-Left or
right. Up/Down chooses, SPACE select/deselect a file.
To start the extracting, exit this menue with Q, and
mEGA-vIEW now starts to extract the files, of course
downloading and all other features of prev. Versions are
working! Of course the checking for enough memory are
also done, but in difference to prev. versions i've
removed the ability to check the archive if the File
doesn't fit in your TEMP-Dir, 'coz this could also cause
trouble !
+When selecting an icon which contains no ToolTypes,
mEGA-vIEW doesn't writes a message...now fixed.
+Made many Code-Improvements, resulting in faster code.
(06-19-95) - Added a Version-Checker. If you choose Executables (Amiga)
or Libraries etc., it will be checked for the Standard
Versions-Strings, and if found, displayed to you :)
MS-Dos Executables,JPG's,GIF's and IFF-Pics are not
scanned for Versions-Tags of course :)
V2.081 (06-22-95) - Internal Update
+BUGREPORT FROM ARGON/PDY:
mEGA-vIEW calculates the amount of pages for some archive-
contents wrong...this happens during wrong initializing of
the page-counter :) Now fixed, mEGa-vIEW should display
now the page-amount correct.
V2.09 (06-23-95) - Internal Update
+Rewritten the displaying of the online-help. Now the
screen clears, displays the informations, and re-load
the hole screen ! So you see all of the text you've seen
before choosing to view the online-help! This works also
in the Hex-Output.
(06-26-95) +Added a Zippy-Search Routine, which allows you to search
inside textfiles for a substring. If mEGA-vIEW founds the
searchstring, it displays the desired line on top of
screen. To start Zippy search, select (Z) in the pause-
prompt. After entering the searchstring you where asked if
mEGA-vIEW should scan the file from Beginning or from
Current Position. Current means scanning from the Top line
displayed on screen.
+Removed the ACP_PATH Tooltype/Functions, as it was useless
because mEGA-vIEW checks itself for Restricted Files.
V2.091 (06-27-95) - Update
*SUGGESTION FROM DEATH ANGEL/SDC:
Added a Pauseprompt when viewing icons containing many
Tooltypes, so you should now see all of them :)
*SUGGESTION FROM ARGON/PDY:
Added a colorisation for the searchstring, meaning that
mEGA-vIEW now displays the found string in green, allow-
ing you to easily see on which line the matching appears.
V2.1 (06-28-95) - BETA-RELEASE
V2.11 (09-12-95) - Next Beta-Release
+BUGREPORT FROM aIRWORX:
It could happen that mEGA-vIEW crashes, maybe in fact of
fragmented or less Memory...anyway, I have now built in
additional error-checkings. Some variables could got more
contents than I have plan to copy in, so i have to increase
the memory used by mEGA-vIEW to 4KB . This is the value
which will be allocated when starting mEGA-vIEW. I hope
the memory crashings are now history...
V2.12 (09-12-95) - Update, currently only for testing purposes
+BUGREPORT FROM dEATH aNGEL/SDC:
meGA-vIEW V2.11 crashes every time when it's started. Some
things are rewritten, but not tested yet. Some bugs fixed
and some improvements made.
+Fixed a bug with some "special" lha-archives. In some
cases, bbs-adverts could be found in the Filecomments,
and this crashes mEGA-vIEW ! Now fixed, mEGa-VIEW sorts
out 0 Byte-Files and ALL Filecomments. I was not able to
reproduce this error after the fixing.
+Fixed a memory-deallocation Bug, now you got back all your
memory :)
V2.13 (12-18-95) - Major Update
-Fixed the Version Bug, now you get the Versionsnumber if
you enter 'Version mEGA-vIEW' in a CLI-Window. Also some
code-improvements made.
+Added the LZX-Support! This will be exactly the same out-
put like when choosing LHA or ZIP archives. Please notice
that this option only works with LZX V1.21 !!! Lower
Versions doesn't work correctly, so please check first the
LZX-Version you have installed!
V2.14 (06-04-96) - Small Update
-Hopefully fixed the Problem with the forgotten files in
the temporary dirs by changing the building of the file-
names to the AmigaOS compatible way.
V2.15 (06-04-96) - GRRR...Bug-Fixing!
*BUG-REPORT FROM ELGUN:
When entering a filename to view mEGA-vIEW won't find it
because of changing the internal SPrintf(), which doesn't
like %d...now fixed!
