Make Boots on D-pad behave more like N64 Rando #623
Comments
I would very much like this implemented as well. |
same over here |
Not sure if this is really the same issue or not, but I noticed that boots and tunics assigned to buttons can't be used in places like the Temple of Time and houses (places where many items can't be used). In those locations the ocarina and some other items (maybe bottles, etc.) can be used, so one solution could be to treat boots and tunics like those items in terms of when they can be used. Edit: I see that this is exactly what #1054 was reporting. To me it sounds potentially different than the issue described here, but I don't know anything about the internals. |
This appears to be a bug but I can't select items from the Equipment screen to go on C-buttons or DPad buttons despite the DPad options being toggled on to equip them. The bug appears to not detect the DPad input or it just doesn't outright work, if I toggle options for using DPad in menus it definitely registers DPad input, but when I use the C-UP button to assign stuff to DPad it just doesn't work. It works for regular item button equips but not from the Equipment screen when I want to assign boots to DPad. |
For this you need to turn on the equippable tunic and boots option in the enhancement menu. |

Having D-pad shortcuts for Iron/Hover boots is handy, but in SoH you're rather limited when you're allowed to (un)equip them.
I'm sure there are more situations:
Shielding = Can't equip
Rolling = Can't equip
Slashing = Can't equip
Jump Slash = Can't equip
Crouching (Holding R) = Can't equip
Hold Z and R = Can't equip
Equipment Menu = Can't equip (This one is rather tricky anyway since in SoH we now have the D-Pad behave as more C-Buttons)
If you do old school method and pause during any of these situations you can equip them manually just fine.
It would just be rather convenient to have it behave more like N64 rando where you can equip them at any given time or action.
