Basics

  • Migration from Wottactic.
  • Needs maps to work.
  • Needs entities to work.
  • I am officer in a clan/community.
  • I am member of GameTactic Discord.
  • I am willing to contribute (Provide resources like maps, entities and keep the up-to-date).

Technical questions

  • Q: Is there API available for entities and maps?
    • A: I don't know if there is an API available for maps and entities, but I am willing to provide and update the maps.
  • Q: How often is entities and maps changing?
    • A: The entities shouldn't change, however the maps respective their radar overviews are constantly updated by Valve. Some of them receive updates more often than others, some haven't been updated by a long time. I would suggest that a check if a newer map (radar) version is available should occur every 6 to 10 weeks.
  • Q: Would you be able to get more interest for this issue?
    • A: I don't know how many people used wottactics for CSGO, but I can ensure you that it was by far superior than other services like tacnet.io and csgoboard.com and essential to the workflow in the team I played with in the past.

Comments

I've been using the previous iteration of wottactics with my main game CSGO. As CSGO is a highly competitive team game, it is necessary to talk about tactics, setups positions and strategies in a controlled environment. Wottactics has always been a great companion and I would like to see GameTactic fulfilling this same role.

There are some icons (player icons, grenade icons, bomb icon) which should be cloned from wottactics. If you need help I can provide the maps of the current active duty mappool as JPGs.

Resources for maps and entity icons are available from following links:

Hey there and sorry I needed some time to answer.

I don't know if there is an API available for maps and entities, but I am willing to provide and update the maps.
The entities shouldn't change, however the maps respective their radar overviews are constantly updated by Valve. Some of them receive updates more often than others, some haven't been updated by a long time. I would suggest that a check if a newer map (radar) version is available should occur every 6 to 10 weeks.
I'm able to provide the latest map overviews as JPGs by Tuesday (12.05.20).
As for you last question: I don't know how many people used wottactics for CSGO, but I can ensure you that it was by far superior than other services like tacnet.io and csgoboard.com and essential to the workflow in the team I played with in the past.

@timternet was there any features of those other services that you wish were in wottactic? i.e, is there something GameTactic could implement that we couldn't get from looking at and using wottactic?

@bryansamuel1 I just double-checked again and can clearly say: No.

Got answer via discord:

Is there possiblity these might change without warning?

Nobody except Valve knows what Valve is planning with CSGO, so yes they might change without warning, but I'll keep track of it.

I would like confirm here timternet has been added to the maps project as outside contributor and I have added discord group according to it. He has already provided map resources to us via public repository.

I would like thank you him for contributing the project!

I will be updating this ticket when we have exact version. For now, we are focusing just to get closed alpha out to test, but this will be implemented for sure before shutting down old service.

Once more. Thank you for contributing!
